About

Ravens Lodge

Mark and Ann now live on a One Planet Development, this means they are off grid and the land has to provide 65% of their needs.

They grow most of their own food and sell the surplus. Ravens Lodge sits on the banks of the river Taf estuary with sea views to both Laugharne and Tenby.

Mark’s connection to the land and self sufficiency was forged in 1991 in Iraq when he was part of the International Search and Rescue Team. He was taught how to forage by one of the displaced Kurdish ladies while on Operation Safe Haven. On returning from Iraq, Mark was so inspired by what he learned he trained as a Bushcraft and Survival Instructor, Mountain Leader and Hedgerow Medicine practitioner. He is very proud to have been one of the instructors on that team for many years.

Mark retrained as a Personal Trainer, Sports Therapist and Nutritional Advisor in 1998. Following 2 years of developing a client base and training as a Reiki practitioner Mark left the Fire Brigade in 2000, with so much gratitude for the skills he had learnt over those 10 years including pre-hospital trauma life support qualifications.

Mark and Ann both work in their own business in St Clears. The Injury Clinic was first opened in 1998 and is still very busy thanks to the ongoing support of local people needing treatment.

In 2014 Mark started exploring into Nutritional and Herbal Medicine. He trained with Julie Bruton-Seal and Matthew Seal, the famous authors of “Hedgerow Medicine”. This is something Mark has found to be very effective in treating the body holistically in the clinic with such issues as trauma, inflammation and diss-ease.

In 2000 there was a constant nudge for him to do more with Reiki and spiritual work. There was a very evident feeling that there was soul loss in so many people. On completion of his Reiki Master teacher training there was a definite calling to spirit work.

Mark then enrolled onto the Celtic Shamanism Practitioners Course at the Irish School for Shamanic Studies. Being fortunate enough to have had a blessed life of excitement including cycling around the coast of UK with the support of Ann in 2015, this has been the most profound and enlightening thing he has ever done!

Mark would describe himself as being open minded to anything but not easily led, however, he has been deeply humbled by the experience of learning this ancient method of healing. Shamanism has been proven to be in existence for over 50,000 years in nearly every culture all over the world. Shamanism is not a religious practice but it is deeply spiritual and has been described as “the direct path of revelation”
